Dermaplaning
FAQ's
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is an effective alternative to exfoliation methods such as microdermabrasion. By causing less trauma to the skin; this form of physical exfoliation uses a sterile surgical blade, held at a precise angle, and gently stroked along the epidermis. By using this method vellus hair (aka peach fuzz) is removed as well as dead skin.

What are the benefits?
By dermaplaning the skin, even the most sensitive skin types can be exfoliated with this method; minimal redness, no downtime. After dermaplaning, the skin is able to absorb skincare products easier and deeper. Your skin is super soft, smooth, and has a glowing complexion. This method of exfoliation can also help relieve the skin of fine lines/wrinkles, scarring from acne, and hyperpigmentation.

The vellus hair that is removed will not grow back darker or thicker. Why? Vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz, always grows back the same, no matter the method it was removed. Although this is a form of shaving the hair, you're removing the hair and exfoliating a layer of dead skin. Unlike other razors, a surgical blade will not remove the hair and leave it with a blunt edge. The only facial hair that grows back darker or differently is hair that is hormonal.

"I dermaplane at home with razors I bought off Amazon/internet" Why is this different?
Unlike the dermaplaning tools you've bought at home, the blades being used in a professional dermaplaning facial are sterile, surgical-grade blades and are the sharpest blade you can get, which allows your esthetician to remove even more dead skin and hair. I am professionally trained & certified to use this specific blade and perform this service. The razors/blades bought for use at home off the internet are not even close to a 10 blade.

How often should I get dermaplaning done?
It's recommended every 4-6 weeks; after the peach fuzz begins to grow back. What is vellus hair? Vellus hair is what a lot of people like to refer to as peach fuzz. It is hair our body naturally produces to keep itself warm. Vellus hair will always grow back the same no matter how it is removed.

Can I use makeup afterward?
You can absolutely use makeup after dermaplaning treatment. Dermaplaning is actually a good way to clear your skin enough to help makeup blend much better than before. With rough, uneven skin, getting foundation and highlighters to blend with your skin can be difficult. These products will simply sit on top of your dead cells, scars, and more. Treatment can also aid in creating cleaner sweat and little to no oil buildup in the first week or two of treatment. After dermaplaning, you'll have a perfect canvas to do your thing. No impurities getting in the way of the perfect look.
